Mr. James F. Harry departed this world on January 18, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on September 18, 1948, in Alexander City, Alabama, to Eldridge G. Harry and Gladys McWhorter, Harry James was a lifelong resident of Alabama, passing away peacefully in Dadeville, surrounded by the love of his family. He was an active member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where he proudly served as a deacon.
James was a man of deep faith, serving with humility and dedication as a deacon at Zion Hill Baptist Church. His commitment to his Christian values was evident in every aspect of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with all who knew him. His generous and loving nature, paired with his skills and hard work ethic, made him a cherished figure within his community and church.
Throughout his lifetime, James found joy and purpose in working with his hands. An artisan at heart, he had an extraordinary talent for building cabinets, repairing furniture, and general woodworking-a craft he approached with the same patience and care he devoted to all areas of his life. His ability to transform pieces of wood into beautiful, functional items brought comfort and beauty into many homes, including his own.
James’s life was marked by the love he had for his family. He is survived by his sister, Betty Germany of Daviston, AL; nephew, Benjie (Heather) Thomas of Dadeville, AL; stepchildren, Mary Roland and James Perdue, Jr.; step-grandchild, April (Mitch) Irvin; step-great-grandchildren, Kameron Sargeant and Kyler Baker; great-nieces, Carrie and Madison Thomas; and numerous cousins who will miss his presence dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Eldridge G. Harry, mother, Gladys Harry, and his beloved wife, Dorothy Harry.
Known for his generosity, James often put the needs of others before his own, touching lives with his kindness and the warmth of his spirit. He was a pillar of strength for his family, offering guidance and support, and his legacy of love and selflessness will live on in the hearts of those he has left behind.
As we bid farewell to James, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. His memory will be cherished, and the lessons he imparted, both through his words and through his actions, will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know him. James's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, faith, and family. He will be profoundly missed, yet forever remembered as a generous, loving, and handy man who made the world a better place simply by being in it.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the Zion Hill Cemetery Fund, 1952 County Rd. 79, Daviston, Alabama 36256.
