Mr. Cooley passed away peacefully at his home on November 13, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on May 28, 1945, in Alexander City, Alabama, to Woodrow Cooley and Louzell Mask Cooley, JR was a man of great vigor and cheer who made a lasting impression on all who knew him.
JR dedicated many years of his life to his work at Russell Mills, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and camaraderie. Upon retirement, he continued to serve his community as a Security Guard in Coosa County, bringing a sense of safety and security to those around him. His professional life was marked by dedication and a deep-seated commitment to the well-being of others.
A man of numerous passions, JR could often be found riding his motorcycle through the countryside, with the wind in his hair and a spirit of adventure in his heart. He also possessed a musical soul, finding joy and solace in strumming his guitar. As a true outdoorsman, he cherished his time fishing on the serene back waters and camping under the stars.
Family was the cornerstone of JR's world. He adored spending quality time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and creating cherished memories. An aficionado of classic westerns, JR would often marvel at the simple pleasure of watching his favorite films with his loved ones.
JR's entrepreneurial spirit led him to run both an auction and a car dealership, showing his versatility and keen business acumen. His love for nostalgia and history was evident in his impressive collection of antiques, and as an avid hunter, he found solace in the majesty of nature and the thrill of the chase.
JR's remarkable life and infectious warmth will be profoundly missed, yet his legacy is one of joy, resilience, and the enduring power of family and community. He has journeyed on, leaving behind a tapestry of beautiful memories that his family and friends will continue to hold dear.
