Funeral Service for James O. “Jimmy” Claybrook, 79, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home at 11 am. Bro. Christopher Fuller will officiate. Burial will follow on the family farm. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Jimmy passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at East Alabama Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on June 15, 1946, in Daviston, Alabama to James Herman Claybrook and Loette Nolen Claybrook.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra Claybrook, daughters, Kathy (Johnny) Love, Kim (Phil) Deavers, Misti Jordan, son, Chad (Shanda) Claybrook, grandson, Scott (Kaylan) Fuller, grandson, Christopher (Vicky) Fuller, grandson, Matthew Fuller, granddaughter, Kaitie (Brandon) Crawford, granddaughter, Amber (Ryan Howard) Deavers, granddaughter, Faith Love, granddaughter, Megan Deavers, granddaughter, Kaci Love, granddaughter, Erin Deavers, grandson, Jake Deavers, granddaughter, McKenzie Claybrook, granddaughter, Madison Claybrook, grandson, Tuff Trussell, granddaughter, Morgan Claybrook, great-grandchildren, Harrison Fuller, Lilee Fuller, Noah Fuller, Luke Fuller, Bryar Fuller, Charlotte Fuller, Aurora Crawford, sister, Ellen Claybrook, brother, Simon (Cindy) Claybrook, step brothers, Danny Parrish and Benny Parrish, and numerous cousins and other family members
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Chris Claybrook, daughter, Kaci Claybrook, and sister, Jan Blake.
Mr. Jimmy graduated from Daviston High School in 1964. He served as a State Trooper for 5 years. He also joined the Army in 1975 and served as a part of the 8th Infantry Division MP unit. Mr. Jimmy joined the Alexander City Police Department in December 1978. He served as police chief for 18 months and retired as a Major in 2008 after 30 years of service. Mr. Jimmy worked at Russell Lands in the security department. He retired from Russell Lands in 2021 after 13 years.
