Mr. James Marion "Bill" Blankenship's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. James Marion "Bill" Blankenship, 84, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Alexander City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Blankenship passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at his residence. He was born on May 23, 1932 in Alexander City, Alabama to Vester Blankenship and P Y Smith Blankenship. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Ware Masonic Lodge and was a 50 year Mason. Mr. Blankenship was an excellent wood craftsman and built furniture for his children and grandchildren and built his own home 56 years ago. He worked as a truck driver for 24 years and logged over 6 million miles. He traveled over 3 million miles without an accident. He was one of the last milk men in Alex City. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the Alabama National Guard Towed Artillary. Mr. Bill enjoyed fishing, especially with his friend, Larry Collins.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nannie Sue Blankenship of Alexander City; his children, Susan Honer Denney of Pensacola, Alicia Colleen Brown, Timothy Marion Blankenship (Jane) , and John Mark Blankenship (Shirley and her children) all of Alexander City; grandchildren, Joseph Blankenship (Tiffany), Mary Katherine Smith (Pate), Paul Blankenship, David Denney (Hanah), Amanda Brown, Emily Porrett (Charles), and Matthew Brown; Nine Great Grandchildren; sister, Martha Davidson of Montgomery; and brother, Dean Blankenship of Jacksonville, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
