Howard Lamar Grier's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Howard Lamar Grier, 87, of Rockford, will be Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 4:00 pm at the Rockford Baptist Church. Bro. David Grier and Dr. Jeffrey Fuller will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. The family will have a private committal service at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery at a later time.
Mr. Grier, a faith-filled and gentle soul known for his infectious humor, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on May 9, 1937, in Elmore County to Albourn Webster Grier and Susie Lee Holman Grier. A devout Christian, Mr. Grier dedicated many years of service as a deacon, touching lives with his kindness and unwavering faith. His commitment to the Rockford Baptist Church community was profound and heartfelt.
A man of many joys, Mr. Grier's laughter was a familiar and comforting sound to all who knew him. His love for playing cards, engaging in games, and sharing stories was only matched by his passion for fishing-a pastime where he found peace and solace.
Mr. Grier's talents extended beyond leisure; he was a skilled handyman whose ability to build and fix anything was nothing short of remarkable. His daily presence at the Main Street Cafe in Clanton will be deeply missed, as will the light of his fun spirit. Mr. Grier's legacy of love, laughter, and service will forever be cherished.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Grier of Rockford; daughter, Debra (Randy) Roddenberry of Conyers, GA son, David (Daphne) Grier of Rockford; grandchildren, Abigail (Ryan) Grantham of Graceville, FL and Faith Grier of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Grady Grier, Melvin Grier, Mervin Grier, Fannie Grier, Paul Grier, Susie Grier, Thomas Grier.
