Funeral Service for Mr. Homer Lee Jones, 81, of New Site, Alabama, will be Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem-New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Homer Lee Jones, a man of adventure, humor, and boundless friendliness, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born to Lafayette and Gladys McDaniel Jones, Homer grew up with an innate sense of curiosity and a love for exploration. He shared a cherished life with his late wife, Barbara Jane Jones, and together they nurtured a family that became his pride and joy. Homer was the loving father of Larry Lynn Jones (Pam) and Lee Wayne Jones. He reveled in the role of grandfather to Katie Denney (Brandon), Megan McCants (Travis), Lynnie Jones, and Seth McClendon (Melissa). His delight doubled as he became a great-grandfather to Alana Maples, Briley Denney, Cooper McCants, and Emma Cole McCants. His sister, Gaynell Worthy, predeceased him, leaving a legacy of cherished memories.
Homer's days were filled with the pleasure of the open road as he enjoyed driving around, visiting friends and family, and delivering parts for several mechanics in the New Site area. His presence was a familiar and welcome sight to many, and his stories and jokes were the highlight of every encounter. Homer's adventurous spirit never waned, and he was often found planning his next outing or sharing tales of his latest escapades.
His love for his family shone brightly as he attended numerous sporting events, where he cheered on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with gusto.
