Homer Glenn "Sonny" Griffin, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by his loving family. Sonny, as he was affectionately known to his friends and family, left a legacy of laughter, wisdom, and unwavering support for his loved ones. Born to the late Homer Odell Griffin and Mildred Johnston Griffin.
A proud graduate of the class of 1965 from Benjamin Russell High School, Sonny's intelligence and wit shone brightly from an early age. His educational journey laid the foundation for a successful career at Russell Corporation, where he dedicated 40 years of hard work and commitment before retiring.
An avid sports enthusiast, Sonny's passion for Auburn football and NASCAR racing were well known. His animated cheers and playful rivalries brought excitement to game days, and his knowledge of sports was both impressive and endearing. Sonny also found joy in playing pool, a pastime where his sharp mind and competitive nature made for many memorable evenings with friends.
He is survived by his beloved children, Ronnie Griffin Caldwell, Jeffery Glenn Griffin, Pat Griffin, and Casey Griffin (Chris) Oliver. His grandchildren, Brandon Boyd (Regan) Caldwell, Jeffery Connor Griffin, and Clara Shea Oliver.
Described by those who knew him as funny, optimistic, and intelligent, his humor brought levity to every situation, his optimism lifted spirits, and his intelligence sparked thoughtful conversations and inspired learning.
As we bid farewell to Homer Glenn "Sonny" Griffin, we celebrate a life well-lived. His legacy will continue to thrive in the memories he created and in the family he adored. Though he may be gone from our sight, Sonny's memory will forever be etched in our hearts, reminding us to face each day with a smile, embrace our passions, and cherish our loved ones.
