Mrs. Martin passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born to Vernon Hart and Ethel Bailey Hart on September 8, 1937, in Hackneyville, Alabama.
Her life was a testament to her spirited nature and her commitment to her faith and family. Her church was her community, where her faith and devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, were evident through her active membership at Orr Street Baptist Church. For over six decades, she faithfully attended church worship, served in the Women’s Missionary Union, and shared her love and generosity at all church gatherings. She was known as a strong prayer warrior to her family and friends. An excellent cook, Mrs. Martin found joy in preparing meals for her family and church.
Her culinary skills were a staple at church events and family gatherings, and her recipes will be cherished by those who had the pleasure of tasting them. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed working on crossword and word find puzzles, which kept her mind sharp and provided a source of relaxation.
Family came next in Mrs. Martin’s life. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Linda Martin Windsor (Daniel); her sons, Jerry H. Martin (Donna), and Terry D. Martin (Ellen). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Marci Pearson, Tiffany Bishop (Tony), Brittany Martin, Jeri Lynn Thomas (Marc), Jedd Martin, Jarod Martin (Olivia), Danielle Windsor (Bill), Raven Windsor (Tyler), and Scott Windsor (Annslee). Her great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her later years, include: Ava Rose Morgan, Ali Reid Andujar, Briggs Booth, Henley Martin, Jaxon Thomas, Dakota Pearson, Anna Grace Pearson, James Butler Martin, Tucker Martin, Malik Bishop, Alexis Bishop, Brinton Parmer, Bryson Martin, and Brock Martin. She also leaves behind her caring nephew, Eddie Hart.
Preceding her in death, were her parents, Vernon and Ethel Hart, her beloved husband of 35 years, Thomas D. Martin, her son Glynn Martin, her grandson-in-law, Terry Pearson, and her brother, Edsel A. Hart.
Mrs. Martin had an impeccable work ethic as evidenced by her 42 years of service to Russell Corporation. Many lifelong relationships were built during those prime years of her life. We celebrate a life beautifully lived and a journey completed with grace. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
