Mr. Harry Steve Barnett's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Harry Steve Barnett, 73, of Sylacauga, Alabama, will be Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Childersburg Church of God. Mr. Barnett will lie instate at 10:00 am at the church on Saturday. Bishop David Bearden and Randy Anderson will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Green Hill Mausoleum at Green Hill Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home in Alexander City.
Mr. Barnett passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at his residence. He was born on April 8, 1950 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Dewey Franklin Barnett and Essie Marie Honeycutt Barnett. He was a longtime and active member of Childersburg Church of God, where he served as a Deacon and faithfully took care of the maintenance around the church. He loved his church dearly and doing work for the Lord. Steve had a very loving and generous heart. For 49 years, he worked for the Childersburg Paper Mill. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and doing yard work. He was a man of many talents and enjoyed woodworking and making decorative walking staffs. He loved his family very much and was always supportive of the grandchildren and their sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rebecca "Becky" Barnett of Childersburg; son, Steven Shane Barnett (Tina) of Childersburg; daughter, Misty Michelle Anderson (Timmy) of New Site; grandchildren, Alex Barnett (Jaycee) of Childersburg, Johnathan Anderson (fiancé, Madison Haggerty) of Alexander City, Rebecca Anderson Hall (Zack) of Dadeville, and Elizabeth Hott (Michael) of Ohio; sister-in-law, Bonnie Barnett of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth Franklin Barnett and Joseph Dewey Barnett; and great-grandson, Connor Hott.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the ALS Association, 300 Cahaba Park Circle Suite 209, Birmingham, AL 35242.
