Mrs Harriet Hales McAlister's Obituary
Mrs. Harriet Hales McAlister
1945-2021
Mrs. Harriet Hales McAlister, 75, passed away May 21, 2021, at her home in Alexander City, Alabama.
Born Aug. 16, 1945, to Ira and Irene Hale, Mrs. McAlister was a life-long resident of Alexander City. She graduated from Benjamin Russell High School and attended Jacksonville State University. She met her husband, Robert, growing up. They were happily married for 54 years.
Mrs. McAlister was employed by Russell Corp. for nearly 30 years, before retiring to her cabin on Lake Martin at the age of 62. There she loved waking each day to feed the ducks and catfish. She loved all animals and dotted on the four-legged family members that came into her life throughout the years.
She also loved nature and the outdoors, which were the subject of much of her artwork. Art was a passion of hers, and she always looked forward to gatherings with her art group.
Above all, though, Mrs. McAlister loved spending time with her family. No one ever went hungry in her house, and she always made sure all guests were well fed with her homemade meals.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Irene Hales, and her brother, Roger Hales.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her daughter, Danice Baker and husband Rodney of Alexander City; her son, Scott McAlister and wife Laura of Birmingham; her grandson, Hunter Baker of Alexander City; and countless other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mrs. McAlister’s memory to the Lake Martin Animal Shelter at P.O. Box 634, Alexander City, AL 35011-0634.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2021, at Radney Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Chris Tidwell will officiate.
