Mr. Glynn Daniel "Danny" Brown, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2024, in Alexander City. Born on April 17, 1953, in Tuscaloosa, Danny was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering love for his family, his exceptional legal career, and his enduring friendships.
The love and adoration Danny had for his wife of 42 years, Lu Ann Hawkins Brown, knew no bounds. He was a devoted husband who loved, adored, and doted on her every day of their lives together. His family was the center of his universe, and he was a proud father to his son, Glynn Daniel Brown, Jr., and daughters, Alana Brown Collingsworth and Whitney Brown Dunaway (Josh). His grandchildren, Bennett James Dunaway, Harper Elizabeth Brown, Hattie Grace Dunaway, and Palmer Ann Dunaway, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He is also survived by his sisters, Victoria Brown Dobbs and Beth Brown Hoff, along with her husband Einar; sisters-in-law, Nona Harris and Sharon Aycock, and her husband Mike; brother-in-law, Wayne Hawkins, and his wife Carol Ann. Danny's extended family, including numerous nieces and nephews, as well as the Tumbleweed family and a multitude of friends, will miss his generous spirit and friendly presence.
A proud alumnus of Benjamin Russell High School, Danny furthered his education at the University of Alabama before earning his law degree from Cumberland School of Law. For 42 years, Danny served his community as an Attorney of Law, earning respect and admiration for his intelligence, frugality, and uncanny ability to be right about everything. His generosity and graciousness in his professional life were as evident as they were in his personal endeavors.
A cowboy at heart, Danny embraced life with a zest that was infectious. An amazing golfer and an awesome athlete in his younger years, his love for sports was paralleled only by his passion for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and he was an avid fan through and through.
Danny was a selfless and friendly individual who was known for his generosity. His involvement with the Tumbleweed Friend Group was a source of great fellowship and camaraderie. He was a man who lived his life with enthusiasm, whether he was advocating for a client in the courtroom or cheering on his favorite team.
To say that Danny was loved would be an understatement. He was adored by his family, respected by his colleagues, and cherished by his friends. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As we say farewell to Mr. Glynn Daniel "Danny" Brown, Sr., we remember a man whose life was full of love, laughter, and the joy of giving. His legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family. Danny will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
