Mrs. Gloria Wilson's Obituary
Graveside Service for Mrs. Gloria Wilson, 85, of Alexander City, AL will be Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Hillview Memorial Park. Pastor Ronnie Palmer will officiate.
Gloria Wayne Corley Wilson was born on August 18, 1939, to Benjamin H. and Ernestine E. (Ingram) Corley at Russell Hospital, Alexander City, Alabama. She passed away at home March 19, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. Gloria started school at Avondale and graduated from Benjamin Russell High School, class of 1957. She enjoyed the Avondale and Russell High school reunions.
Gloria married her first sweetheart, E. Nolen Daniel; to this union daughters Susan and Stacy, and son Scott were born. Nolen was in the U.S. Air Force and the family was stationed in eight states and Rammstein Germany. She enjoyed traveling, experiencing new foods and trying to recreate them in her own kitchen. Gloria was a great pinochle player, and enjoyed playing piano- often plinking out the
notes for songs she heard on the radio and couldn’t find sheet music for. She was fond of bowling, often participating in base leagues, something she encouraged her daughters to do also.
Later Gloria met the second love of her life H. Thomas Wilson, and married in Alexandria, Louisiana, in May 1983. They lived for several years in Reedsport, Oregon where they began travelling through the states in their several campers and motorhomes. They retired to Alexander City, continuing their many travels, traversing forty-nine states and western Canada - didn’t make it to Hawaii as the motorhome didn’t have floats.
Gloria was preceded in death by her infant son Scott, her parents, husband Tom, sister and brother- in-law Rita and Leon Colley, and niece Melinda Cozad. Those who cherish her memory include her children: Susan (Glen) Armond of Virginia and Stacy (Jess) Robinson of Iowa. Grandchildren: Spencer (Stephanie) Armand, Olivia (Nick) Fotinos, Daniel (Sara) Robinson, Timothy (Audrey) Robinson, Jessica (Ben) Blair, Stephen (Mallery) Robinson, Jonathan (Aryn) Robinson, William (Courtney) Robinson. Great grandchildren: D. Thor, Myra, Zane, Braxton, Callen, Graham, Eliza, Nyla, Milo, Ava, Rosalie, Waylon, Nolen and Patsy. Also, her niece Melanie Tapley and friend Matt Bowers, and newly white-coated veterinarian-to-be grand-nephew Adam Tapley.
