Mr. Giulio M.Pescia, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away surrounded by his loving family. Born to Ulbaldine and Rosemary E. Pescia, Giulio's life was a testament to service, perseverance, and love. His early departure from this world was preceded by the loss of his parents, his beloved grandson David Rhodes III, and his brothers Ricky and Michael Pescia.
Giulio's academic journey led him to Columbus College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, and later to Troy University for a master’s degree. His thirst for knowledge and dedication to personal growth were hallmarks of his character. He proudly served his country for 12 years in the United States Marine Corp, a Vietnam War Veteran who was honored with a Vietnam service medal, National defense service medal, and a good conduct medal. His commitment to the welfare of others continued as he served as a drug and alcohol counselor for adolescents at Pathway in Ozark, AL, where his guidance changed many young lives for the better.
The essence of Giulio's spirit was his role as a devoted husband to his wife, Shirley Jacobs Pescia of Wilsonville, AL, and a loving father to his children, Gail L. (David) Rhodes, John R. Kelley, Hellene K. (Benjamin) Preston, Giuliana (Drew) McCullum, and Melessa (Jeff) Harper. His legacy is carried on through his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his boundless love and the wisdom he imparted. Giulio's sisters, Michelle (Keith) Jackson and Adriana Tabler, will hold dear the memories of their brother, whose life was a beacon of inspiration.
Giulio's passions were as vast as his generosity. An avid runner, he completed 9 Boston Marathons, the US Marine Corp Marathon in Washington, DC, and numerous other marathons across the United States. His love for athletics extended to being a fervent Crimson Tide fan and a dedicated Dallas Cowboys supporter. His joy was also found in traveling, exploring the world, and experiencing new cultures with his family.
Those who knew Giulio would describe him as loving, intelligent, and spirited. His presence was a source of comfort and his laughter a reminder to cherish each moment. He nurtured deep relationships with his family and friends, instilling in them the values of courage, integrity, and the importance of a life well-lived.
As we say farewell to Mr. Giulio M.Pescia, we celebrate a life that was full, a heart that was generous, and a spirit that was unbreakable. His legacy will continue to flourish in the lives he touched and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be a guiding light to all who were blessed to know him.
