Ms. Waites passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Russell Medical. She was born on September 29, 1957 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania to Henry Drayton Waites and Billie Turner. A passionate equestrian, Ginger's love for horseback riding was infectious, especially when she shared stories of her treasured times with Smokey. Her competitive nature shone brightly as she gracefully participated in rodeo events, a testament to her determination and skill.
A proud graduate of Benjamin Russell, Ginger's school spirit was undeniable. She cheered on her team with the same enthusiasm whether on the sidelines as a cheerleader or soaring high as a gymnast. Her love for dance was nurtured for years under the guidance of Mrs. Carlisle, which only added to her impressive repertoire of talents.
An avid Auburn Tigers fan, Ginger never missed a chance to root for her team, bringing together family and friends for each thrilling game. Above all, her nieces, nephew, and great-nephews were the apples of her eye, and she showered them with immeasurable love and affection. Ginger's radiant smile will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her mother, Billie (Carman) Turner of Alexander City; brother, Jeff (Dianne) Waites of Fitzpatrick, AL; aunts, Helen June Neese of Alexander City Jeanette McKissick of Alexander City, and Anne Barkley of Equality; nieces, Brittney (Charles) Brasington of Prattville, and Morgan Waites of Auburn; and nephew, Wesley Waites of Auburn.
She was preceded in death by her father; aunts, Margie Williamson, Sara Nell Davis, and Doris Jean Futral.
