Mr. George Clarence Yates' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. George Clarence Yates, 103, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, January 25, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Scott Railey will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. George Clarence Yates, known affectionately to friends and family as Clarence, passed away peacefully on the 22nd of January, 2026, in Alexander City, Alabama. Born on April 12, 1922, in Cowpens, Alabama, to Benjamin Harrison Yates and Lola Smith Yates, Clarence lived a rich and full life, marked by his generosity, wisdom, and deep faith. He was a member of Campground UMC.
Clarence was a proud Army veteran who served his country with honor during World War II. His dedication to service was a defining aspect of his character and continued to influence his actions throughout his life. After his military service, Clarence returned home and became a valued member of his community, known for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand.
A devout Christian, Clarence lived his faith every day, embodying the love and compassion at the heart of his beliefs. His commitment to his religion was evident in his actions and the way he treated others, always striving to be a living example of the Christian virtues he held so dear.
Music and singing were among Clarence's greatest joys. He loved playing music and could often be found humming a tune or sharing a song with those around him. His musical talents brought joy to many and served as a source of comfort and inspiration throughout his life.
Clarence's legacy of generosity and wisdom lives on through his family. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. They, along with the rest of his extended family, will forever cherish the memories and lessons he imparted.
Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Audrey Yates; his father, Benjamin Harrison Yates; his mother, Lola Yates; and his siblings, Otis Yates, Velma Davis, Roscoe Yates, Roy Yates, Artis Yates, Gentle Yates, Arnold Dan Yates, and Arward Nolen Yates. Each of them held a special place in Clarence's heart, and he often spoke of them with love and respect.
Clarence's life was a testament to the power of faith, the joy of music, and the importance of family. His warmth and wisdom touched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will be treasured by his loved ones and the community he so dearly loved. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
