George's other senses made up for his loss of sight. When around him enough you have the tendency to forget he's blind. He could hear them chopping meat at cotton barbecue from the road, tell what fast food restaurants we were near from the smell of the grease. One day coming home from visiting his lifelong friend Tim, we stopped to eat at the dairy queen, I got out and started across the parking lot. He yelled "marilyn what about me ". Another time we had went to Tim's house and when we were leaving I forgot to tell him about the step down at the door. When he went down it he said " well I guess I'm outside now " I could go on and on about my days with George.... as all who loved him he will be truly missed.
My sincere condolences for your loss.
Please know that God understands how you feel and he deeply cares about you (1Peter 5:7), and fully understands what you’re going through. Especially the pain and grief we experience when someone we love falls asleep in death. God’s word encourages all to throw all of our anxiety on Him because he cares for you.

George and I Would go to the woods every Friday and pick up logging tickets . He would always want to know which way we were going. One Friday we were way out in the woods and when we left come out to the end of the road. I turned right about a 1/2 a mile down the road he told me I was going the wrong way I should have turned left. And he was right. I'm sure gonna miss him he was the best.
We are so sorry to hear about Alvin’s passing. Sending prayers, hugs, and love from the Buford Bishop family—-Beth, David, and Jennifer.
