Mr. George "Roadrunner" Leroy Andrews' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. George “Roadrunner” Leroy Andrews, 69, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Scott Jordan will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Andrews passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at residence. He was born on November 2, 1949 in Carrollton, Georgia to Roy Lee Andrews and Genelle Irene Harry Malone. Mr. Andrews served for eight years in the Marines and the Marine’s Reserve. His time in the service sent him to Vietnam where he achieved several medals of Honor including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Expert Badge and several others. He was a member of Sixth Street Baptist Church. George was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved going on family vacations, watching the Alabama Crimson Tide play and reminiscing with his truck driving friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Renee Andrews of Alexander City; daughter, Alisha A. (Thomas) Smith of Alexander City; grandchildren, Gracie Elisabeth Kelley and Sophie Kelley; brothers, Curtis (Tricia) Malone and Roger Andrews; nephew, Justin (Alyssa) Malone; nieces, Stephanie (Kevin) Freiny and Heather (Michael) Jeffreys; aunt, Louise Phillips and many other great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
