Mrs. Armstrong, affectionately known as Frankie, was born on December 12, 1963, in Birmingham, Alabama, and peacefully passed away on July 27, 2023, in Rockford, Alabama. She was a woman of great spirit and love, whose laughter and passion for life touched everyone she met.
Frankie was the beloved mother of Tiffany Whatley (Wesley) of Titus, Alabama, and Alyshia Lawrence (Josh) of Wetumpka, Alabama. She was a doting grandmother to Michael Armstrong (Josie), Greggory Armstrong (Aleiah), Darien Whatley, and Christian Lawrence, who filled her life with joy and laughter. A recent addition to her family, great-granddaughter NovaLynn Armstrong, brought her immense happiness. Frankie is also survived by her siblings, Mable Thames (Lloyd) of Birmingham, Dana Broome (Bryan) of Pike Road, Alabama, and Timmy Ford Sr. (Sonya), of Titus, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Armstrong, her father, Benny L. Watson, Jr., her mother, Dolly R. Weldon, step father, Herschell Weldon, and her sister, Ellen Thames.
Frankie's pursuit of knowledge led her to earn an associate degree from the Coastal Training Institute. This educational foundation paved the way for a fulfilling career as the Membership Coordinator for the Medical Association of Alabama. Her dedication and hard work were admired by her colleagues and the wider community.
An avid sports enthusiast, Frankie had a particular love for Alabama Football and NASCAR. Her passion for sports extended beyond spectating, as she coached little league football, cheerleading, and softball teams. Frankie's love for coaching was a testament to her nurturing nature, as she took great delight in helping young people develop their skills and confidence. Her other interests included country music and fishing, activities that brought her peace and joy.
Frankie was known for her humor, love, and passion. Her laughter was infectious, and her love for her family and friends knew no bounds. She was passionate about her interests, her work, and her community, living each day to the fullest and inspiring others to do the same. Her spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In remembering Frankie, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with laughter, love, and a deep passion for the things and people she held dear. Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and the many lives she touched through her work and interests. Frankie Evon Watson Armstrong, a beacon of love and joy, will forever be remembered and cherished in our hearts.
