In the quiet, serene town of Dadeville, Alabama, on the 19th of July, 2023, the Lord called home His faithful servant, Evelyn Marie Bowen Robinson. Born on February 8, 1938, in the humble town of Hackneyville, Alabama, Evelyn was a beacon of faith, love, and kindness, whose light was extinguished too soon.
Evelyn was a proud alumna of Hackneyville High School, where she nurtured her love for learning and community. After graduation, she found her calling in the textile industry, weaving not just threads, but also strong bonds with her colleagues and community. Her industrious spirit and dedication to her craft were a testament to her character, and she was highly regarded by all who knew her.
Beyond her professional life, Evelyn was a woman of simple pleasures. She found joy in the beauty of nature, particularly the sight of Cardinals and Hummingbirds, the taste of fresh summertime vegetables, and the vibrant colors of her flower garden. Her culinary skills were legendary in the community, with her tea cakes, chocolate cake, and chicken and dumplings bringing joy to many a gathering. However, her greatest joy was her family, her 'grandbabies' and 'great grandbabies,' and her little dog 'Baby,' who were the apples of her eye and her heart's delight.
Evelyn was a beloved sister to Sue Smith, Patricia Ellington, and Judy Bowen. She was the proud mother of Vicky Pitts (Roger), Cathy Robinson, Steve Robinson, Mike Robinson (Kim), and Johnathan King. She was a cherished grandmother to Zachary Robinson (Kirsten), Karley Rodman (Scott), Haley Robinson, Paige Myers (Caleb), and Ace King. She was also a doting great-grandmother to Ivan Robinson, Grayson Rodman, Langston Rodman, Ava Robinson, Nora Robinson, Caleb Myers, and Elena Myers. Her love for her family was boundless, and her legacy will live on through them.
Evelyn was reunited in heaven with her parents, her husbands Paul Robinson and Donald Goodson, her sisters Trellis Fuller and Shirley Welcher, her brothers Bobby Bowen and Frankie Bowen, and her daughter-in-law, Kim Robinson. Their reunion is a bittersweet comfort to those she left behind.
Evelyn was a faith-filled woman who walked in the path of righteousness. She treated everyone with kindness and love, just as the Good Book teaches. Her faith was as steadfast as the Southern Pines, and she lived her life as a testament to the grace of God. She was a shining example to all, demonstrating that a life filled with love and kindness is a life well-lived.
As we say our earthly goodbyes to Evelyn Marie Bowen Robinson, let us remember her not with sorrow but with joy. Let us honor her memory by living as she did - with faith, love, and kindness. And let us find comfort in the knowledge that she is now at peace, resting in the arms of our Lord.
In the words of the Good Book, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord." (Matthew 25:23). Evelyn, your life was a testament to these words. You were faithful in all things, and now you have entered into the joy of your Lord. Rest in peace, dear Evelyn. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
