Funeral Service for Mrs. Elna J. Hardy, 89, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Faith Temple. Pastor Dick Stark will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm at Faith Temple.
Mrs. Hardy went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by the warmth of her family. Born on May 8, 1936, in Alexander City, AL to Harris Jackson Mallory and Myrtle Esther Rigby Mallory, Elna was a woman whose life exemplified the virtues of compassion, faith, and resilience.
From her earliest days in Alexander City, Elna was embraced by the Christian faith, which grew to become the cornerstone of her existence. She devoted herself tirelessly to her congregation at Faith Temple, where her melodious voice was a staple in the church choir, uplifting hearts towards the heavens with every note. Her commitment to her faith was evident not only in her attendance but in the way she lived her life-full of grace and gratitude.
Elna’s professional life was characterized by dedication and hard work as she served as an Inspector at Russell Mills for an impressive 50 years. There, she was esteemed by her colleagues and management alike for her work ethic and meticulous eye for detail. Her retirement was celebrated, as she transitioned from her professional role to focus on her beloved hobbies and family.
A craftsman in her own right, Elna channeled her creativity through painting and arts and crafts, creating masterpieces that were both a testament to her skill and a source of joy for those who had the privilege of admiring them. These pieces of art remain cherished mementos of her talent and creativity.
Known among her relatives and friends for her knack at bargain hunting. Her intelligence and tenacity at finding those coveted discounts were nothing short of legendary.
Family was the pinnacle of Elna's joy, and her face shone brightest when her loved ones gathered around her. As a devoted mother and grandmother, her guidance and affection were boundless, and her legacy will forever be reflected in the lives and memories of her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Elna J. Hardy’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her boundless joy, and her unconditional love for family and friends. Though she has completed her journey on earth, her memory will be enshrined in the hearts of those she left behind-everlasting and ever cherished.
She is survived by her sister, Edith Mae Spivey; daughter, Tina Joy (Jerry) Lynch of Dadeville; sons, John Edward Blair, Jr. of Penton and Terry Lynn Blair of Alexander City; step-daughter, Alice Lynn Hardy (Kenneth) Perrigin of Greer, SC; grandchildren, Brandon Allen (Shannon) Cumbie, Cody Mitchell (Rachel) Blair, Nora Lindsey (Jason) Braswell, and Audrey (Jeremy) Ray; great-grandchildren, Dakota Nathan Browning, Zander Allen Cumbie, Ansley Grace Blair, and Sadie Elise Braswell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell Lynwood Hardy; brothers, Larcus Aaron Mallory, Morris Allen Mallory, and Johnny Harris Mallory.
