Funeral Service for Mrs. Elizabeth McMillon, 80, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 5:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Terry Carter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Carlton McMillon, a beacon of love and selflessness, has peacefully departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of spirited joy and nurturing care. Born into the embrace of Charles Edward Carlton and Edna Earl Carlton, and stepmother, Atha Carlton. Elizabeth blossomed into a remarkable individual whose life was characterized by her ceaseless dedication to her family and community.
A proud graduate of Benjamin Russell High School, Elizabeth's zest for knowledge and personal growth was evident from her early years. Her passion for nurturing extended beyond her own family as she owned and operated a beloved daycare for a decade. There, she touched the lives of many children with her loving care, shaping the futures of the next generation with kindness and patience. She was devoted to the children's ministry at her church.
Elizabeth's heart was truly at home, where she was the cornerstone of her family. She is survived by her husband, James Madison McMillon of Alexander City, AL, and her cherished daughters, Cheryl McMillon, and Karen (Kerry) Goggins. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Emory (Lindsey) Goggins, Payton (Amanda) Goggins, and Lanoah (Josh) Lumpkin, and her treasured great-grandchildren, Ellis, Charleigh, Lyn-leigh and Sadie Goggins, Aubrey, Weston, Riley, and baby Lumpkin. Elizabeth's life was a tapestry woven with love, a pattern that will be carried on through the lives of her descendants.
An avid gardener, Elizabeth, found solace and joy in the simple pleasure of growing vegetables in her garden, each plant a testament to her nurturing spirit. Her talents extended to the art of sewing, where she crafted not just garments but also memories, imbued with the warmth of her hands. Baking was another of Elizabeth's passions, her kitchen a hub of warmth and delicious aromas, where family and friends gathered to enjoy her culinary creations.
Elizabeth's adventurous spirit led her to explore the world through travel, attending auctions where she delighted in the thrill of discovery. Her love for life's simple pleasures was a lesson she imparted effortlessly to all who knew her.She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles Edward Carlton, Edna Earl Carlton, and stepmother, Atha Carlton who instilled in her the values of love and kindness that she so generously shared with the world.
Elizabeth's life was a testament to the power of giving oneself to others. Elizabeth was a proud 21-year Breast Cancer Survivor and supported others in their battle with cancer. Her selfless love and spirited nature will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will be cherished, her lessons remembered, and her love felt forevermore.
The family will be holding a service to celebrate Elizabeth's life and the immeasurable impact she made on all who knew her. As we bid farewell to Elizabeth Carlton McMillon, we reflect on a life well-lived, a heart given freely, and a spirit that will continue to inspire. May she rest in peace, enveloped in the love she so abundantly gave.
