Ms. Elisa Kay Bailey Bowles' Obituary
Elisa Kay Bailey Bowles of Fayetteville, N.C., went home to be with her redeemer on April 2, 2018. Elisa was born July 24, 1979, in Opelika, Ala., the daughter of Charles Emmett Bailey Jr. and Emily Kay Peacock Bailey of Alexander City, Ala.
Elisa accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at age 10 and was baptized at the Hackneyville Baptist Church in Hackneyville, Ala. She witnessed for the Lord – from playground to volleyball court – from childhood until just days before her death. She was an active member of the Sixth Street Baptist Church in Alexander City. She loved to sing and found opportunities to perform from preschool age up until a few days before her passing. She sang all the time. She loved babies, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and at weddings, and playing and coaching volleyball. Elisa loved her children dearly and home schooled them for many years.
Elisa graduated co-valedictorian from Horseshoe Bend High School, and she earned an associate’s degree from Central Alabama Community College, her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Auburn University at Montgomery, and her master’s degree in math education from Alabama State University. Elisa taught at Horseshoe Bend High School and Dadeville High School in Tallapoosa County, Ala.; Alexander City Middle School in Alexander City, Ala.; Fort Campbell Junior High School in Fort Campbell, Ky.; The Episcopal School in Alexandria, Va.; Freedom Christian Academy in Fayetteville, N.C.; and most recently as a homeschool teacher to her beloved children in Fayetteville, N.C.
Elisa was loved by her family and friends from all walks of life. She is survived by her children Johne Bailey Bowles and Arley Kate Bowles; brother Charles E. Bailey III, wife Rhonda, and their children Bandi and Brianna; sister Emily Jan Bailey Wolf, husband Victor, and their children Gregory and Michael; sister Erilynne Bailey Tucker and her children Jackson and Ellie; and her aunts, uncles, and cousins, including the Curtis and Faye Peacock family; Frank and Buena Peacock Brown family; William Peacock family; James and Clara Peacock Beckett family; the late William Richard Bailey and Janet Brock family; the late Eddie Patterson and Vicki Bailey Paterson family; and the Jeff and Linda Bailey family; as well as a host of extended family members.
A memorial and celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 15, at the Sixth Street Baptist Church, 2324 Sixth St. Ext., in Alexander City, Ala. 35010. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church’s Building Fund, or to the Southeastern Hospice House, 1100 Pine Run Dr., Lumberton N.C., 28358.
