Funeral Service for Dwight O'Daniel, 80, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Monday, February 12, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Ricky Culp and Wes Talton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Russell Farm Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Dwight, a cherished soul known for his humorous, loving, and gentle nature, left us on February 6, 2024, at the age of 80, in his hometown of Alexander City, Alabama. Born on February 11, 1943, in the heart of Alabama, he lived a life filled with joy, kindness, and a passion that touched the lives of many.
Dwight's life was a testament to the love he had for his family and friends. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 58 years, Linda O'Daniel, his loving daughter, Crystal Elliott, and her husband Chris. He was the proud grandfather of Kimberly McClellan and her husband Dan, Austin Elliott, Brock Elliott, and Harper Elliott, who will all deeply miss his humor and warmth. A beloved brother as well, Dwight is survived by Carla Talton and her husband James, Mary Wood, Paul O'Daniel, and Ferrell O'Daniel and his wife Charlene. His legacy is also remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who cherished his presence in their lives.Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Belle and Woodrow Wendell O'Daniel, and his brothers, Curtis, Bobby, Mark, and Jim O'Daniel.
Professionally, Dwight retired from Russell Corporation after many devoted years. His colleagues knew him as a man who embraced camaraderie and good humor. He was a member of Russell Farm Baptist Church for years. Dwight's love for life extended beyond work; he was an enthusiast of old cars and an avid NASCAR fan. His front porch came to life with the buzz of hummingbirds, a sight he adored and nurtured with care. An outdoorsman at heart, Dwight cherished the times spent hunting and broadened his interests into the meticulous care of his gun collection. Dwight maintained a close network of family and friends by calling them and he loved to watch "his boys" play baseball.As we remember Dwight O'Daniel, we celebrate the man whose spirit never met a stranger and filled every room with laughter and love. His memory will live on as a beacon of joy and kindness in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him."Who loves you baby"
