Mr. Douglas Ray Coker's Obituary
Graveside Memorial Service for Mr. Douglas Ray Coker, 74, of Alexander City, will be Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Hillview Mausoleum.
Mr. Coker passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Russell Medical. He was born on January 9, 1946 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to John William Coker and Ruth Woodruff Coker. Osh, as he was affectionately known, enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed family game night, playing dominos and card games, including rook. He was an avid Alabama Football fan. He was always joking and had nicknames for many of his family members. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his sister, Margie Coker Gilmer; nieces, Kimberly Coker, Andrea Logan (Dave), and Candace Fielders (Brian); nephews, Wayne Coker (Tammy), Walt Gilmer (Elisabeth), Wade Gilmer, Art Smith, and Mitch Mooney (Candy); long-time partner, Mona LeMaster; special great nieces, Kimber Smith, Brittany Smith, and Sarah Logan; special great nephews, Andrew Smith (Heather), William Head, Hal Coker, Saxon Coker, Luke Mooney, Lee Gilmer, John Gilmer, and Walter Gilmer; cousins, Betty Ray, Larry Stephens, Joann Peoples Mathis, and Joyce Mathis; sisters-in-law, Virginia Coker, Adelia Adams Coker, and Charlotte Coker; grandchildren, Jordan Galloway, and Brady Galloway (Ashley); and many more extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Coker, Harold Coker, and Billy Coker; sister, Patricia McGuire; nephew, John Coker, Jr.; special aunts, Dorothy Peoples, and Vertis Stephens.
