Mrs. Dorothy Jean Patterson's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Dorothy Jean Patterson, 87, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 16, 2023, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Patterson passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at East Alabama Medical Center. She was born on June 9, 1936, in Clay County, Alabama to George Thelman Mattox and Elendor Laverne Jones Mattox. She was a member of Alex City Methodist Church and a long time member of Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church. She met and married the love of her life in 1953. She and Horace made a wonderful life together. Through the years the family grew and she was blessed with her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a loving and nurturing grandmother who enjoyed every moment she was blessed to spend with them. Dottie was an amazing cook and had a green thumb when it came to growing vegetables and flowers.
She is survived by her daughter, Lesia Delynn Freeman (Alton) of Alexander City; son, Horace "Pat" E. Patterson Jr (Lycrecia) of Anniston; brother, Charles Mattox (Brenda); sisters, Florence James, Jessie Miller (Charles), Stella Willis; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Horace E Patterson Sr.; parents; brothers, James Mattox, Edward Mattox, Billy Mattox and sisters, Sara Mask, Louneal Ingram, Margie Smith.
