Funeral Service for Mrs. Doris Umphrey Harry, 87, of New Site, Alabama, will be Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Hall Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Born to Urias Levextion Umphrey and Macie Lee Umphrey, Doris was a lifelong learner, a trait she cultivated from her early days. She pursued her academic aspirations with vigor, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in education from Jacksonville State University, followed by a master’s degree from West Georgia. Her educational journey laid the foundation for a remarkable career in teaching, where she not only imparted knowledge but also inspired countless students to pursue their dreams with the same fervor that she did.

Doris's great-grandchildren, Weston Harry and Braxton Sims, will know her through the stories and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Her brother, Alva Coys Humphrey, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family, will miss her wise counsel and gentle presence.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmie Lee Harry, her father, Urias Levextion Umphrey, her mother, Macie Lee Umphrey, and her brother, Ulen Umphrey, Doris now joins them in eternal peace.
