Dereck Shane Jones' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Dereck Shane Jones, 51, of Hackneyville, will be Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Clinton Branch and Rev. Kevin Holman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Old Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Dereck passed away at the age of 51 on April 29, 2024, in Hackneyville. Born on February 15, 1973, Dereck was a loving and selfless man who devoted much of his career to Russell Corporation, eventually taking pride in his work as a skilled electrician for Mr. Bob Clowdus.
Dereck's commitment to his community was evident through his active membership at Old Providence Baptist Church. He found joy in the simplicity of life, whether it was casting a line into a tranquil lake, perfecting his swing on the golf course, nurturing his cherished animals, or cheering on the Auburn Tigers to victory. His hobbies also reflected a deep appreciation for history and sport, seen through his collection of arrowheads and baseball cards. Above all, he loved his children dearly and was proud of them in all that they did.
Remembered for his handy nature and generous spirit, Dereck's legacy will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his father, David Jones of Hackneyville; son, Nathan Jones of Alexander City; daughter, Laura Jones of Alexander City; spouse, Beth Jones of Alexander City; brother, Dana Jones (Bethany) of Hackneyville; nephews, Jarrett David Jones and Logan Jones; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Diane Jones.
