A beacon of love and kindness, Deanna passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, at the age of 85 in Alexander City, AL. Born on July 16, 1938, in Dadeville, AL, Deanna's life was a tapestry of warmth and affection that touched everyone she knew.
Deanna graduated Dadeville High School in 1956 before beginning an academic journey at the University of Montevallo and later continued at Auburn University, where she cultivated a lifelong love of learning. She married the love of her life, John Allen Hubbard, on August 19, 1961. Her intellectual curiosity was matched only by her passion for life's simple pleasures. A true fashionista, Deanna's sense of style was impeccable, and she found great joy in shopping for the perfect ensemble. Her love for animals was profound, and she found solace in the company of her beloved pets.
A talented baker, Deanna's kitchen was a haven of delightful aromas and tastes, where family and friends gathered to enjoy her delicious creations. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, flourishing under her attentive care. Above all, Deanna adored her grandchildren and her great-grandchild, cherishing every moment spent with them and imparting wisdom that would guide them through life.
Deanna's legacy is carried on by her loving family: daughter, Selina Hubbard Gaston (Jeffrey) of Dacula, GA; sons, John Hubbard (Vicki Brown) of Dacula, GA, and Robert Edward Hubbard (Catherine) of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, Deanna "Gabby" Gaston, Aubrey Gaston, Jessica Hubbard, Sp. Matthew Hubbard, and Wesley Hubbard; and great-grandchild, Skylar Hubbard.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Mullican; mother, Helen Mullican; husband, MSgt. John Allen Hubbard, Sr.; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Hales Hubbard.
Remembered as loving, kind, and friendly, Deanna's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. Her radiant smile and gentle spirit will be deeply missed, but the love she shared will continue to inspire and comfort her family and friends for generations to come.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Chapman's Health Care, with a special thank you to Shirley Hutchins and Gabbie Spradley. Thank you for all your love. You are truly angels among us.
