Mr. David "Jaybird" Jordan's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. David "Jaybird" Jordan, 60, of New Site, Alabama, will be Friday, August 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
David, affectionately known as Jaybird, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2023, in Opelika, Alabama. Born on October 19, 1962, in Alexander City, Alabama, Jaybird was a beloved member of his community and a cherished figure in his family.
Jaybird was the epitome of a devoted family man, survived by his loving wife, Sara Jordan and his adoring mother, Virginia Jordan. He was a treasured stepfather to his step-daughter, Tiffany Colley (Bradley), and a doting grandfather to his grandchildren, Addi and Aubie Colley. Jaybird was a brother to Donnie Jordan (Tabitha) and an uncle to his nieces, Kasey Woodruff (Brandon), Kortney Jordan, his nephew, Kerri Jordan, and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kirby and Kora Woodruff, and Brayden and Tallen Jordan. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Daniel Jordan, and his step-son, Sammy Bramblett.
A proud graduate of New Site High School, Jaybird was an accomplished varsity football player. He later became a skilled machinist, working at, Russell Corp., Robinson Iron, and Satterfield's Machine Shop. Jaybird was a thoughtful, selfless, and courageous individual, respected and admired by his friends.
Jaybird was a man of many interests. He found solace in gardening and was passionate about deer hunting. His enthusiasm for Alabama football was unparalleled. Jaybird's zest for life and his love for his family and friends were the hallmarks of his life.
In remembering David Wayne "Jaybird" Jordan, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he left behind.
