Mrs. Darlene Eastridge Williams, RN, a beacon of light and love in her community, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2023, at her home in Daviston, Alabama. Born on April 23, 1939, in Fairfax, Alabama, Darlene's life was a testament to the power of optimism and the pursuit of knowledge. Her passion for helping others was evident from a young age, leading her to pursue a career in nursing. After obtaining her nursing degree from Columbus State University, she dedicated 25 years of her life to the Columbus Medical Center, where she was not only a compassionate caregiver but also a mentor to many.
Her professional achievements, however, were just one aspect of her vibrant life. Mrs. Darlene was the beloved matriarch of a family that adored her deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Bonita Brooks (Jerry) of Marietta, GA; her sons, Jimmy Williams of Daviston, AL, and MSGT Dennis Williams, USAF ret. of Phenix City, AL. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Deborah A. Bushey (SFC Paul), Jay Brooks (Lauren), Tiffiney Regan (Luke), Brandon Williams, and Kyle Williams, as well as her great-grandchildren, Joseph, Wayne, and Christopher Bushey. While the loss is profound, the family takes comfort in the fact that she now reunites with her late husband, Billie J. Williams; daughter, Linda Williams Anderson; and her parents, Mrs. Audie Mae Brown and Calvin Eastridge.
Mrs. Darlene's zest for life was contagious. She was an adventurous soul who loved to explore the world. Her extensive travels brought her to breathtaking destinations, and she captured the beauty of these experiences through her love of photography. Her photo albums are treasured chronicles of adventure and joy. At home, her garden was a canvas of colors, a testament to her love for flowers and an expression of her nurturing spirit.
Above all, Mrs. Darlene cherished moments with her family. Her intelligence and optimistic outlook made her a pillar of strength and inspiration. She was a guiding light, always encouraging her loved ones to reach for the stars and to face life's challenges with courage and grace.
