Memorial Service for Mr. Danny Whatley, 62, of Alexander City, will be Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:30 in the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Faron Golden will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Radney Funeral Home.
Danny Whatley, a cherished family man, esteemed colleague, and friend to many, passed away surrounded by his loved ones. Born to Wynoma Durden and William Morris Whatley and Danny's life was a testament to the joy and laughter he brought into the world. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A proud graduate of Benjamin Russell High School, Class of 1979. He went on to build a notable career at Madix in Eclectic, Alabama, where he worked for 22 years.
Danny's life was rich with love and laughter, shared with his beloved wife, Cindy Whatley of Alexander City, AL. Together, they created a home filled with joy and open hearts. He was a devoted father to his sons, Walter D. Whatley (Robin) and Daniel R. Whatley, teaching them the values of kindness, humor, and love that he embodied so well. Danny also leaves behind his brother, William Michael Whatley (Jackie), his sister, Diane Voss (Mickey), and his sister Anita DeStefanis (John) of Birmingham, AL, along with his brother David Whatley. His numerous nieces and nephews will fondly remember their uncle's funny tales and warm embraces.
An avid sports fan, Danny's enthusiasm for the game was infectious, whether he was cheering from the stands or recounting the latest play with friends. His younger days were filled with the joy of playing golf and softball, where he made lifelong friendships and memories. Danny's love for the outdoors shone through his passion for camping with his friends and sons, where he found peace and camaraderie under the open sky.
A big movie buff, Danny could always be counted on for a recommendation or an impromptu movie night. His love for films was just one of the many ways he connected with those around him, sharing laughs. His love for his family was the cornerstone of his life, and his presence at family gatherings will be deeply missed.
Those who knew Danny describe him as funny, loving, and generous. His sense of humor brought light into every room, and his loving nature made everyone feel like family.
