Coleman June Smith Jr., affectionately known as "Coley," passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and an unwavering love for his family and friends. Born into a close-knit family, Coley was a beacon of light and a source of guidance to all who knew him. His life was marked by his friendly nature and his profound ability to connect with others on a genuinely personal level.Coley was a proud graduate of Auburn University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Textile Management. His education laid the foundation for a successful and fulfilling career as a manager at Avondale Mills, where he dedicated 40 years of service. Coley's professional life was characterized by the same integrity and commitment he showed in every aspect of his life, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates.Beyond his professional achievements, Coley's heart was truly at home with his family. He is survived by his son, Coley Jay Smith (Carolyn) of Tuscaloosa, AL; his daughter, Stephanie Sue Smith; his grandchildren, Baylen Coley Smith (Landon), Lexi Ella Garrett, and Lily McDonald; and his great-granddaughter, Camille Rosemary Kaye Smith. He also leaves behind his loving sister, Kathy Williams (Bud); his nephew, Wesley Williams (Crystal); his great-niece and nephew, Tori and Coleman Williams; his step-son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Christie Broom; his step-daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Stephen Miles; and his step-grandchildren, Rachel, Carrie Ann, Addison, and Alli Broom. Coley was preceded in death by his father, Coleman June Smith, Sr.; his mother, Ella Ruth Smith; his first wife, Linda Sue Smith; and his second wife, Joan Broom Smith.Coley's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. He loved spending time with his family, playing golf, reading, and watching all sports. Each of these activities brought him joy and provided him with opportunities to forge lasting memories with those he cherished most. His laughter on the golf course, his animated discussions about the latest sports game, and the quiet moments spent lost in a good book were all facets of a life well-lived.Those who had the pleasure of knowing Coley would describe him as friendly, loving, and wise. His advice was sought after by many, and his ability to listen and offer thoughtful counsel was a gift to his family and friends. Coley's presence was a comforting constant, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.The void left by Coley's passing is immeasurable, yet it is filled with countless warm memories that will continue to bring solace and smiles to those who were fortunate enough to be part of his journey.
