Mr. Futral passed away on April 4, 2026. He was born on July 8, 1931 in Tallapoosa County to James Horace Futral and Cora Adamson Futral, and lived a long and meaningful life marked by hard work, music, family, and simple joys that brought happiness to those around him.
Ed grew up with the values of perseverance, honesty, and dedication that would guide him throughout his life. He carried those qualities into adulthood and became known as a dependable and hardworking man who took pride in everything he did. For most of his working life, he was self-employed as a carpenter, and his skill with his hands was evident in the care and craftsmanship he brought to his work. He built more than structures during his lifetime. He built a reputation for integrity, reliability, and quiet strength that earned the respect of many.
Ed also had a deep love for music, especially bluegrass. He was a skilled musician whose talent brought joy not only to himself but also to countless others who heard him play. He was a member of a traveling band and spent many years sharing his music across the United States and even in Canada. Those who knew him understood that music was more than a pastime for him. It was a gift he carried with him throughout his life, and it gave him the opportunity to connect with people far and wide through the universal language of song.
In addition to his love of music, Ed found great satisfaction in tending to his garden. He enjoyed working outdoors and taking care of the things he planted, watching them grow with patience and attention. His garden reflected the same steady care that he gave to his work and to the people he loved. He appreciated the beauty of simple things and found contentment in the quiet rhythms of daily life.
Above all else, Ed loved his family. He treasured the time he spent with them and found his greatest happiness in their presence. He was a devoted and caring man whose love for his family was evident in the way he lived and in the memories he helped create. His family will remember him for his kindness, his steady nature, his sense of humor, and the many moments of joy he shared with them over the years.
Clarence Edward Futral will be remembered as a man of talent, dedication, and warmth. His life was one of purpose and devotion, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he is no longer with us, the legacy of his work, his music, his garden, and his love for family will remain a lasting tribute to a life well lived.
