Christopher Lynn Sturdivant, known by friends and family as Chris, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at East Alabama Medical Center. Born on November 23, 1969, he was the son of Mr. Raymond Leon Sturdivant and Mrs. Janice Britton Sellers. Chris worked for many years as a Heavy Machine Operator for various companies including D&J Enterprises. His hard work, skills, and dedication made him an asset to any project that was given to him.
Chris was a lover of the outdoors and avid fisherman. His love for fire and water was evident in his passion for hand-washing his own cars, which he did with meticulous care, and his enjoyment of the days spent on his pontoon boat, cruising the lake under the Alabama sun. When he wasn't on the water, Chris could be found firing up the grill for friends and family. His canine companions, Ella & Bayle, were a source of immense pride. Each dog, regardless of their actual name, was lovingly referred to as "Bird Dog," which was a testament to his playful spirit. A jokester at heart, Chris was always ready with a prank or a witty remark, bringing smiles to the faces of those around him (once their blood pressure returned to normal levels). He could also get a laugh or two out of you with his dance moves, which he demonstrated often.
Chris's love for his daughter, or "Cujo" as he lovingly called her, was unparalleled. He was not only her "deddy" but also her best friend. His caring and selfless nature extended to his roles as a son, as Chris was a great source of support and love for his mother, always ensuring she was well looked after. He was a big-hearted, caring person who put everybody else before himself. Chris was a loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend to all that met him, and his laughter and kindness surely left a lasting impression on all that knew him.
Chris is survived by his daughter, Carli Marie (Dylan Robinson) Sturdivant; mother, Janice (Steven Waters) Sellers; father, Raymond Leon Sturdivant; sister, Stormy Lee (Joey Helewski) McNeill; wife, Donna Marie Chandler; uncles, Jerry (Shirley) Britton, Walter Britton; niece, Macie McNeill; nephew, Jonathan Beasley; cousins, Dwayne (Tina) Britton, Jeremy (Sarah) Britton, Jason Britton; and numerous other great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Sue Pearson; and grandparents, T.H & Christine Britton and Curtis & Lois Sturdivant.
Radney Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Christopher Lynn Sturdivant.
