Born on October 5, 1948, in Alexander City, Alabama, Charlotte was the daughter of Mickey Williams and Mayo McDaniel Williams. She was raised with the values of faith, family, and hard work that guided her throughout her life. Charlotte attended Flint Hill Church and found strength and comfort in her Christian beliefs, which remained an important part of her life.
Charlotte was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was centered around the people she loved most. She is survived by her husband, Willie Wright; her children, Steve Dodgen and his wife, Angelique, John Shae Dodgen, Christy Diane Dodgen, and Mikel Shaun Dodgen and his wife, Rachel; grandchildren, Kristen Lancaster, Ashley Abrams, Kayla Milam, Kerri Mitchell, Logan Tillery, Mackenzie Dodgen, Elijah Dodgen, Sophia Dodgen and Brady Wells; her sister, Connie Mallory and her husband, Marty; and special family friends, Virginia McCrary, and Thomas McDaniel. Her family was the heart of her world, and she cherished every opportunity to care for them, encourage them, and share in their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mickey and Mayo Williams; her sisters, Sandra Wilson and Cathy Williams; and her brother, Ricky Williams and dear friend, Daisy Mae McDaniel. Their memories remained close to her heart, and she carried their love with her throughout her life.
Charlotte will be remembered for her warm spirit, her kind heart, and the many ways she showed love through everyday acts of care. She was a wonderful southern cook who took great pride in preparing meals for her family and making sure everyone felt welcomed and nourished. Her baking was especially cherished, and she was known for making delicious tea cakes, sweet potato pies, biscuits, and crepes that brought joy to those fortunate enough to enjoy them. Cooking was one of the many ways she expressed her love, and her kitchen was often a place of comfort, laughter, and togetherness.
She also enjoyed going to yard sales and thrift stores, where she found joy in discovering special treasures and simple pleasures. Charlotte had a gift for decorating for the holidays, and she took delight in making her home festive and inviting for family and friends. These traditions reflected her thoughtful nature and her desire to create beauty and warmth in the lives of those around her.
Above all, Charlotte loved spending time with her grandchildren. They brought her great happiness, and she treasured every moment she shared with them. Whether she was cooking for them, talking with them, or simply enjoying their company, she found deep fulfillment in being present in their lives. Her love for her family was steadfast and unconditional, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Charlotte Diane Wright leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion. Her life was a reflection of compassion, generosity, and strength, and she touched many lives with her gentle spirit and caring heart. Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, sister, extended family, and friends.
