Charlotte Knight passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at her residence. Born in Opelika, Alabama, on May 10, 1933, she was the daughter of Forris Murray and Everette Kilpatrick Murray. Charlotte attended Massey Draughn Business College in Montgomery and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Alexander City. Her Joy Sunday School Class and helping to deliver meals to shut-in members were some of her favorite ways to participate and give back. A true Southern Woman, through and through, with a dedication to her family, her town, and the beauty in life through various hobbies.
The fairways and greens of Willow Point Country Club were Charlotte's sanctuary, where she was often found swinging with grace and precision. Alongside her husband, whom she met on a serendipitous blind date and cherished over 50 years of marriage with, she traveled and played with professionals, showing off her competitive spirit on courses far and wide. That competitive nature led her to earning the esteemed title of Grand Champion. Charlotte's love of golf was matched only by her passion for playing bridge which earned her many awards along the way. But her artistry was not confined to the greens or the card tables.
Upon retirement, she discovered her natural talent as an acrylic painter of beautiful landscapes. Her paintings were not the only beautiful landscapes that Charlotte held. Although she did not care for the labor of yard work, her flowers and meticulously kept yard were sources of peace and pride. Charlotte dedicated her life to her family. She showed support for her daughters by cheering them on and driving them to each practice and event. That love has continued with the adoration of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately know her as "Gram." Charlotte was a loving, compassionate, and social woman with a competitive side that will always be remembered by all who met her.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Annette (Johnny) Miller, Karen (George) Eastin; grandchildren, Stephanie (Brad) Pesterfield, Jamie (Michael) Bradshaw, Lauren (Taylor) Hendrix, John Michael Miller, Randie Caroline (Daniel) Roberts; great-grandchildren, Braxton Pesterfield, Norah Pesterfield, Zachary Bradshaw, Steven Bradshaw, Hannah Bradshaw, Luke Hendrix, Molly Hendrix, Christie Jean Roberts; sisters, Barbara Foster, Judy (Bobby) Burrow; and a very special family friend, Louise Russell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Knight; daughter, Christie Caine; parents, Forris and Everette Murray; and sister, Faye Cole.
