Mr. Charles Thomas Burton's Obituary
Mr. Charles Thomas Burton, known affectionately as Thomas to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on December 24, 1953, Thomas's life was one marked by devotion to his loved ones, service to his country, and a warm, engaging personality that drew people to him.
Thomas proudly served as a Marine, a testament to his passion and commitment to his country. Thomas drove a truck for over fifty years. His service was a significant part of his identity and instilled in him a sense of discipline and honor that he carried throughout his life. Beyond his military service, Thomas was known for his friendly demeanor, his sense of humor, and his deep passion for life, which endeared him to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda "Lynn" Burton of Goodwater, AL, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. His mother, Ruby Jean Burton of Alexander City, AL, will fondly remember the warmth and care of her son. Thomas was a cherished father to his daughter, Jennifer Burton (Brian "Tater") Taylor of Ashland, AL, his daughter, Stephanie L. Burton, and his son, Brandon T. (Ashley) Burton of Ashland, AL. His presence as a guiding light and mentor in their lives will be greatly missed.
Thomas also leaves behind a legacy through his siblings, Glenda (Roger) Brown, Reshanda (Jimmy) Griffin, and Erica (Zach) Nelson, who will continue to carry forward the values and memories they shared. His grandchildren, Natalie Burton, Colton Burton, Aidan Taylor, and Reagan Taylor, will remember their grandfather with love and admiration for his ability to make each moment with them special and joyous.
His father, Tommy Lawrence Burton, and his brothers, Dewight Burton and Dwayne Burton, preceded Thomas in death. They have now been reunited in a place of peace and everlasting love.
Thomas's life was enriched by a host of family and friends who will deeply feel the absence of his laughter and companionship. His ability to light up a room with a joke or a funny story was unparalleled, and his passion for life was contagious, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
As we say farewell to Thomas, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by genuine connections with those around him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and passion will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
