Funeral Service for Mrs. Charlene Turner Johnston, 85, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 2:30 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Ronnie Turner and Rev. Ronnie Palmer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Charlene Turner Johnston, a beacon of laughter and love, passed away surrounded by her adoring family. Her life was a tapestry of kindness, humor, and devotion, woven with the threads of her ceaseless care for those she held dear. Charlene's legacy is one of joy and affection, a legacy that will be cherished and remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Born to the late Charles Turner and Carmen Thomas Turner, Charlene was a resident of Alexander City, where she graduated from Benjamin Russell High School. Her roots in the community ran deep, and she blossomed into a woman admired for her wit, her loving nature, and her kindness that knew no bounds.Charlene's life was enriched by her marriage to the love of her life, the late George Lois Johnston. Together, they built a family foundation strong in love and laughter. Charlene's role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, and she is survived by her devoted children: Dawn (John) Booth, Diane (Joe) McClellan, and Donnie (Raye) Johnston. Her joy multiplied with the birth of each grandchild: Rob (Ashlan) McClellan, Seth (Mallory) Johnston, Morgan (Chris) Hope, Ashley (Will) Booth, and Haley Booth. Charlene's delight knew no bounds when she became a great-grandmother to Lillian McClellan and Truett Johnston. Her brother, Ronnie (Judy) Turner, also survives her, carrying with him memories of a shared childhood filled with love and laughter.
A woman of many passions, Charlene found solace and pleasure in her hobbies. Her hands were rarely still, as she adored crocheting and making ceramics. Each stitch and mold was a testament to her patience and artistry, creating beautiful pieces that her family will treasure forever. However, Charlene's greatest joy was found in the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her eyes sparkled with mirth during each visit, each hug, and every shared story.Charlene's sense of humor was a gift to all. She had a natural ability to find the funny in the mundane, to turn a frown into a smile, and to lighten any room she entered. Her laughter was infectious, and her presence was a comfort to those around her. Charlene was the epitome of a loving spirit, always putting others before herself and offering a kind word or helping hand to anyone in need.
In her passing, Charlene leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She taught by example the importance of kindness and the value of family.
