Graveside Service for Mr. Cecil Edward Ray Jr., 69, of Alexander City, will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Hillview Memorial Park. Bro. Wayne Cowhick will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2024 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Cecil passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Russell Medical Center. He was born on Sunday, December 19, 1954 in Alexander City, Alabama, to Cecil Edward Ray, Sr. and Martha Ann Miller Ray. On November 3, 1972, the year before graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Dianne Jackson Ray. Cecil was a hard-working man who dedicated 30 years as a Screen Printer at the #8 for Russell Corporation and with Rip It Sports. After retiring, he worked at Children's Harbor Thrift Store and American Thrift Store.
Cecil also coached little league football and baseball for several years in the community where he influenced the lives of many children. During his down time, he could be found fishing on the lake or bowling with his fellow teammates. All in all, Cecil was a good-hearted man who was known for his dry sense of humor and for being a sharp shooter with his words. He was opinionated, headstrong, and a man of conviction who would help those that needed him. These character traits are what made him the unique and unforgettable husband, father, and "Paw Paw" to his family and friends.
Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Dianne Ray; sons, Brian (Betsy) Ray Chris (Maryshay) Ray; grandchildren, Mikaylah (Matthew) Jackson, Dawson Ray, Phoenix Ray, Brianna Ray, Chase Ray, Kaitlyn Ray; great-grandchildren, Houston Vickers, Hansen Vickers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Ray Sr. and Martha Ann Ray; and granddaughter, Hope Ray.
Radney Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ray family.
