Ms. Carolyn Dark McCord's Obituary
Funeral Service for Ms. Carolyn Dark McCord, 87, of Hoover, Alabama and formerly of Alexander City, Alabama will be Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Josh Sammons will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Ms. McCord passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. She was born on March 31, 1935 in Alexander City, Alabama to Oliver Alton Dark and Lucille Warren Dark. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church Trinity Campus for many years where she sang in the choir. She loved her family dearly and was totally devoted to her daughter, Sharon. She retired from J.C. Penny after 20 years of service in Selma, Alabama. Ms. McCord had a special love for Auburn University, enjoyed going out to eat, was an excellent seamstress and a good cook.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon McCord Kain of Hoover, Alabama; sisters, Gloria D. Ellison of Alexander City, Alabama, Luanne D. White of Dadeville, Alabama; brother, Douglas Dark of Tallassee, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, David F. McCord and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, First United Methodist Church Trinity Campus, 310 Green Street, Alexander City, Alabama 35010.
