Carolyn Pemberton Grant, 87 years old of Jacksons Gap, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of January 31st, 2025.
Carolyn's interests painted the picture of a life filled with simple pleasures. She was an expert gardener, whose blooms brought beauty to her home and joy to her heart. Her hands were often busy collecting all kinds of "pretties," which she arranged with a keen eye around her home. Carolyn loved baking. Many will remember her as a generous hostess who delighted in sharing her delicious creations with family and friends. Her home was filled with warmth and hospitality, reflecting her heart for homemaking. She lived a large majority of her life on Lake Martin and loved being outside all summer long. Riding the boat was one of her favorite things to do on the lake. She enjoyed feeling the warmth of the sun, playing with her grandkids, and searching to find new flowers in bloom. She relished the opportunity to go camping with loved ones while making precious memories. Carolyn also enjoyed the years she spent with her Bunco group and as a member of The Red Hat Society.
Carolyn loved Pleasant Grove Church of Christ dearly. She faithfully attended nearly her whole life. Anyone who knew her well, knew her church held a very special place in her heart.
Carolyn's family was the center of her world. She is survived by her son, Philip Lorenzo Grant and daughter-in-law Linda; and her daughter, Lisa Grant Neese and son-in-law Adam, her grandchildren, Beth Neese Preece and husband Michael, Holly Neese Bradford and husband Tye, Lindsey Grant Bradberry, Daniel Philip Grant and wife Andrea, Kaitlyn Cooley, and Brooke Bennett; and her great-grandchildren, Cely, Scarlett, Ansley, Emma, Cade, Remi, Asher, Nema, Kaidence, and Navi. She leaves behind her sisters, Joyce Wellborn and Willard Suggs, and Beverly DuBerry and husband George, as well as her sister-in-law, Phyllis Pemberton. Each of these relationships was nurtured with love, generosity, and the occasional shared giggle, creating an unbreakable bond that will continue to thrive in her absence. Carolyn was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Lorenzo Hale Grant, who was waiting to welcome her with open arms. She was also greeted on the other side by her father, Mynard Carl Pemberton, her mother, Hilda Jackson Pemberton, and her brother, Gary Pemberton. The reunion of these souls is a comfort to those she leaves behind.
Her life was full of thoughtfulness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to her family and friends. Her legacy is one of love, a love that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Carolyn Pemberton Grant's memory will be cherished as a treasure now and always.
