Mr. Byron "Bill" Eugene Stockdale, Sr.'s Obituary
Funeral service for Mr. Byron "Bill" Eugene Stockdale, Sr., 78, of Equality, will be Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 3:30 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Ed Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rehobeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. \r\n\r\nMr. Stockdale, Sr. passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011 in Alexander City. He was born on June 7, 1932 in Chilton County, Alabama to George Eugene Stockdale and Mary Belle Hudson Stockdale. He was a member of Kendrick Baptist Church. Mr. Stockdale worked in construction and as a heavy machine operator for the Coosa County Commission. He also worked as tug boat skipper in California and sold produce beside Avondale Mill. Mr. Stockdale enjoyed farming and loved to fishing. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his daughters, Lenora F. Vickers of Jackson's Gap and Barbara S. Willoughby (Adrain) of Alexander City; sons, Byron E. Stockdale, Jr. (Gwendolyn) of Camp Hill and George W. Stockdale (Janice) of Alexander City; seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by parents; sister, Nanny Sue Meadows; grandsons, Bradley Dale Phillips and Kirk Logan Stockdale; granddaughter, Makala Jolene Thornton.
