Bobby Gene Mann Sr.'s Obituary
Bobby Gene Mann Sr., born February 29, 1948, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, November 14th, 2024. Bobby lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and service, leaving a legacy of love and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Billie E. Mann and Athol Gilbert Mann, as well as his brothers, Joe Glen Mann and Billy Wayne Mann.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Pat Mizzell Mann, who was the love of his life. Together, they built a family rooted in love and faith. He is also survived by his son, Brian Gregory Mann (Kelly), and his daughter, Tara M. Mann (Kris Josephson). Bobby was a proud and loving grandfather to five grandchildren: Ian T. Josephson (18), Isaac C. Josephson (16), Isabella "Bella" Mann (11), Brian "Deuce" Mann II (8), and Bobby Gene Mann, Jr. (4). He also leaves behind his brother, Ricky Mann (Emily), along with a host of extended family and friends.
Bobby proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. His unwavering dedication to his fellow servicemen and women was a testament to his courage and sense of duty.
After his military service, Bobby dedicated 25 years to Sterling Lumber Company in Goodwater, Alabama, followed by 24 years of service at Aflac, where he was known for his hard work and integrity.
A lifelong member of Goodwater Baptist Church, Bobby was deeply committed to his faith and community. Over the years, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and active member of various committees. His steadfast faith and servant’s heart left an indelible mark on the lives of many.
Bobby's warmth, humor, and enduring love will be deeply missed, but his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, and in the presence of his Lord. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held at Goodwater Baptist Church on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with burial to follow at the Greenview Cemetery in Goodwater. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. There will also be a reception after the service at Goodwater Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Goodwater Baptist Church or the Wounded Warriors in Bobby's memory.
