Funeral Service for Mr. Billy Wayne Mann, 78, of Goodwater, Alabama, will be Monday, January 4, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Alex City Church of Christ. He will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service. Minister James Cullins and Bro. Ray Dunn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Mann passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his residence. He was born on March 4, 1942 in Coosa County, Alabama to Billy Edward Mann and Athol Gilbert Mann. He attended Bethany Baptist Church. Billy Wayne was selfless, giving his time and energy to friends and neighbors. He was dedicated to his family and was the glue that held it together. He opened his home time after time to take care of family members in need. Billy Wayne loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. One of his great loves was breeding and training horses and mules. He had a knack for understanding both people and animals. He had a green thumb and loved gardening and sharing his produce with others. He was a successful and respected manager with AFLAC for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Hayes Mann; son, Jeffery Wayne Mann (Tracy Lee); daughter, Alicia Mann Holena (Patrick); grandchildren, Andrea Kelly Overman (Austin), Jeffery Kyle Mann (Blair), Ashton Lee Mann; great-grandchildren, Lucas Craig Overman, Lincoln Mitchell Overman, Landon Wayne Overman; step-grandchildren, Lauren Marie Holena, Ryan Holena (Shelby); step-great-grandchild, Piper Holena; brothers, Bobby Gene Mann (Pat), Ricky Edward Mann (Emily); sister-in-law, Wilma June Mann; brother-in-law, Carl Hayes (Karen) and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Glenn Mann.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Children's Harbor or your favorite charity.
All visitations and services will be held in compliance with the mandated rules from Alabama Dept of Public Health.
