Mr. Billy George Collins, Sr.'s Obituary
Funeral service for Mr. Billy George Collins, Sr., 81, of Rockford, will be Friday, May 28, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Providence Baptist Church in Rockford. Rev. Paul Shaw and Rev. William Short will officiate. He will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Providence Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. \r\n\r\nMr. Collins passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at his residence. He was born on December 20, 1928 in Coosa County, Alabama to George Taylor Collins and Enola Crew Collins. He was a member and deacon at Providence Baptist Church. He was a retired letter carrier with the United States Postal Service. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. He was a jack of all trades and was always ready and willing to help others. He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening and riding his tractor.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Doyce Clothilde “Clo” Collins of Rockford; son, Billy G. Collins, Jr. (Teresa) of Hueytown; grandchildren, Christopher Shane Collins, Misty Michelle Sandlin (Josh) and Amanda Dawn Guyer (Jason); great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Collins, Jakob Collins, Isaiah Sandlin and Lilly Guyer; sisters, Mary Holt (Edward) of Elmore County, Geraldine Turner (Sidney) of Rockford, Margie Sullivan of Alexander City, Ann Kelly (Earl) of Montgomery; brother, Foy Crew Collins of Sylacauga and numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Hilda Harris and infant brother, John Taylor Collins.\r\n\r\nFlowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be sent to Providence Baptist Church, Route 1, Box 137, Rockford, AL 35136.
