Mrs. Betty Tankersley Parker's Obituary
Services for Mrs. Betty Parker, 78, of Peachtree City, will be Thursday, March 6, 2025. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:30pm at the Radney Funeral Home in Alexander City, AL followed by a graveside service at 2:00 pm at the Hillivew Memorial Park. Bro. Leland Sapp of Connect church will officiate.
Mrs. Parker passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025 after a long illness. She was born on January 14, 1947 in Alexander City, Alabama to and Evelyn Lashley McKenzie and Roy Curtis Tankersley.
Betty attended Benjamin Russell High School and graduated in 1965. She was a telephone operator in Alex City and competitive high school Tennis player that finished second in a State Championship. She worked for Eckerd Drug Company’s regional office in Newnan, GA and then for Employer’s Claim management in Montgomery, AL as well as for Alabama Self Insured Workers Comp Fund in Birmingham, AL. She remained active in sports, continuing to play tennis and competitive volleyball. She and her husband OJ moved frequently and made friends wherever they landed. She loved being active in church and enjoyed fellowship with others. Her husband OJ passed away in 2019 followed by her beloved fur baby, Lexie in 2022. Even during her final years in immense pain at WestHill Senior living, she brought joy and comfort to those around her, never forgetting to share her faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele Parker of Newnan, GA; son, Craig Parker (wife Karen) of Hendersonville, TN; sister, Cynthia “Lisa” Johnston of Houston, TX and granddaughters, Sarah, Hannah and Rebekah Parker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Joseph Parker; her parents and brothers, George and Gerald Tankersley.
