Mr. Bernard Dean Speaks' Obituary
Graveside Service for Mr. Bernard Dean Speaks, 82, of Alexander City, will be Monday, July 26, 2021 at 4:00 pm at the Hillview Memorial Park. Rev. Wayne Cowhick will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 26, 2021 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Speaks passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Brown Nursing Home. He was born on July 25, 1938 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to John Forrest Speaks and Mary Elizabeth Dean Speaks. Bernard was a proud US Air Force veteran. He was also an avid Auburn fan. He loved playing golf and working in his yard and garden. Bernard loved people and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed sitting with friends at Burger King, McDonald’s or being a unemployed greeter at Walmart. He loved his family very much and was so proud of his only granddaughter and great grandsons.
He is survived by his son, Mark Speaks (Connie) of Alexander City; granddaughter, Season Speaks Johnson (Dylan); great-grandchildren, Truxton Wes Johnson and Nash Sterling Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Ann Smith Speaks; sisters, Juanita Laster, Edith Bailey, Ruth McCord, Shug Spraggins and Voncile Shores; and brothers, Gordon Speaks and Johnny Speaks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Meals on Wheels, 3316 Highway 280, Alexander City, AL 35010.
