Mr. Audie Dean Moncrief's Obituary
Graveside Service for Mr. Audie Dean Moncrief, 70, of Alexander City, will be Monday, January 12, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Hillview Memorial Park. Rev. Jeff Dye and Rev. Bennie Lee Yates will officiate.
Mr. Moncrief passed away on January 10, 2026, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on December 5, 1955, in Alexander City, Alabama, Audie's life was a tapestry of the many joys and passions that he embraced with fervor and shared generously with everyone around him.
A man of the earth and all its wonders, Audie was never happier than when he was outdoors. His early years were filled with the adventures of hunting and fishing, a testament to his love for the natural world. This passion evolved into a love for collecting artifacts, a hobby that would see him traveling to various shows, his eyes always alight with the thrill of a new discovery. Audie found a quiet peace in metal detecting, a pastime that married his love for the outdoors with his fascination for history and the unseen treasures that lie beneath our feet.
Audie’s pride shone brightly through the meticulous care he took of his yard, a lush sanctuary that reflected his dedication to the beauty of nature. His love for animals paralleled this care, and the presence of creatures, great and small, enriched his life beyond measure.
Family was the cornerstone of Audie's world. His role as a proud grandfather was one he cherished deeply, reveling in every moment spent with his grandchildren. The joy of simply sitting and reminiscing with cousins and friends was a source of great comfort and happiness for Audie.
Audie was a devout Christian. He lived out what Jesus called the two greatest commandments. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and he loved others as he loved himself. He also showed great faith in his love, care, and devotion to his family, always taking care of his parents in their latter years, as well as the rest of his family.
Audie’s devotion to Auburn ran deep. An avid fan, he found camaraderie and community in the tales of Auburn history, often regaling his friends with storied recollections that were as much a part of him as his own history. Equally, he found solace and excitement in the escapades of old Western films, with John Wayne's rugged portrayals capturing his imagination and transporting him to the grand frontiers that he loved.
Mr. Audie Moncrief lived a life adorned with simple pleasures, deep connections, and a love for the legacies of the past that inform our present. His passing leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and an unquenchable zest for life that will continue to inspire all who knew him. As the curtains close on this final act, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. Audie departs from this world, but the echoes of his vibrant spirit will resonate in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were privileged to know him.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Moncrief of Alexander City; sons, Cole Moncrief of Chelsea and Frank D. (Heather) Moody, III of Alexander City; grandchildren, Greyson Cole Moncrief, Hank B. Moody, and Hazel Jane Moody; many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and his loyal canine companion, his little bitty Jojo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Myron A. Moncrief.
