Ms Ann G. Tate's Obituary
A visitation for Ms. Ann Tate will be on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Ann G. Tate, a cherished soul known for her adventurous spirit and loving heart, passed away surrounded by the melodies she adored and the family she so passionately loved. Born into the musical embrace of the Gray family, Ann's life was a beautiful composition of dedication, joy, and the threads that wove her community together, both literally and figuratively.
Ann's legacy is carried on by a family that was the center of her world. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Julie Ann (Lamar) Weithoner of Sylacauga, AL. Her grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to her life, include LeAnna Tate of Alexander City, AL, Grayson Weithoner, Zach (Amber) Weithoner, and Katie Weithoner. Her great-grandchildren, Nora, Molly, Cate, and Marley, will miss her deeply. Ann's sister, Wendy (Kenny) Henley, sister-in-law, Melinda Gray, niece, Renea (Chris) Pippin, and nephews, Scott (April) Henley and Jason Henley, will also hold her memory in their hearts. Ann now joins her late father, William Estes Gray, mother, Julia Gray, great-grandchild, Raymond Cole, sister, Sally Grier, and brother, Billy Gray, in eternal peace.
A proud alumna of Wetumpka High School, Ann's work ethic and skill were evident early on. She dedicated 33 years of service to Russell Corporation, where she became an expert in sewing football pants, crafting them for everyone from Little Leaguers to NFL stars. Her talent even graced the silver screen, as she made the football pants for movies from the late '70s to the mid '80s. Ann's colleagues remember her as a cornerstone of their team, someone whose passion for her work was matched only by her care for those around her.
Ann's interests were a reflection of her vibrant personality. From a young age, she was immersed in her family's love of live country music, a passion she nurtured and passed down through the generations. She was an avid fan of Dierks Bentley, possessing several of his albums and never missing a chance to attend his concerts. Her encounters with the country star, marked by numerous autographs and cherished memories, were highlights of her musical journey. Ann's love for music was not confined to admiration; it was an experience she sought out, traveling far and wide to immerse herself in the concert scene.
Those who knew Ann best would describe her as adventurous, loving, and passionate. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world of music and to share those experiences with her beloved family. Her loving nature was evident in the close-knit relationships she maintained, always prioritizing her family and friends. Her passion was seen in every stitch she sewed, every note she sang along to, and every hug she gave.
Ann G. Tate's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and music. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her melody will resonate in the memories she created and in the lives she touched. Her story is not one of sorrow, but a celebration of a life lived with fullness and grace. Ann's spirit will continue to dance to the rhythm of country tunes, in the places she loved, and most importantly, in the hearts of her family, who will continue to sing her song for generations to come.
The family would like to express immense gratitude to the staff of Goodwater Healthcare, and the Goodwater and Kellyton Volunteer Fire Departments.
