Mrs. Anita Jean Boone's Obituary
Funeral Service for Anita Jean Boone, 86, of Jackson's Gap, Alabama, will be Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Cowhick will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Radney Funeral Home.
Anita Jean Boone, a loving, faith-filled, and kind woman, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. She was born on January 20, 1940, in Alexander City, Alabama, to Harvey Milam and Lorene Gordan Milam. Anita lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and the simple joys that made each day meaningful.
Anita was a Christian and carried her beliefs with her throughout her life. Her faith was an important part of who she was and guided the way she cared for others. Those who knew Anita will remember her as a woman with a gentle spirit, a warm heart, and a steadfast love for the people around her. She had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and her presence brought comfort and strength to her family and friends.
She retired from Russell Corporation after more than 40 years of dedicated service. Her long career reflected her strong work ethic, loyalty, and commitment. Anita took pride in her work and in the relationships she built over the years. Her years at Russell Corporation were a meaningful part of her life, and she was respected for the dependability and grace she brought to her work each day.
Anita was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed cheering on her team with enthusiasm. She also loved gardening, traveling out west, motorcycle rides, horseback riding, and camping. She found joy in being outdoors and appreciated the beauty of nature. Whether she was spending time in the garden, taking in the scenery on a trip, or enjoying the open air, Anita embraced life’s adventures with a spirit of appreciation and delight.
Family was central to Anita’s life, and she cherished the time she spent with those she loved. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Jean (Randy) Keel and Johnnie Sue Prophitt. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, David M. Keel and his wife Melissa, Alanna Stancil and her husband Tyler, and Danielle (Rocky) Mask. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren,Peyton Keel, Tucker Keel, Maddison Keel, and Zac Powell. Anita is also survived by her nephews, Scott Milam and his wife April, Jeffrey Milam, Timmy Milam and his wife Shelly, and Paul Milam; her niece, Becky Myers and her husband Van; and her brothers, Roger Milam and Rickey Milam and his wife Diana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Milam and Lorene Gordan Milam. Their memory remained close to her heart throughout her life, and the love of her family helped shape the person she became. Anita’s life was a reflection of strength, devotion, and kindness, and she will be remembered with deep affection by all who were blessed to know her.
Anita Jean Boone leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and her life will be remembered for the many ways she touched others with kindness and grace.
